Want to explore both song and your voice? Come and do so in a supportive and encouraging environment. Originally classically trained, a lover of Early and Baroque music, and experienced and passionate about writing and performing in contemporary folk influenced styles, I’m very aware of the different approaches in different vocal styles, and of the importance of finding and loving our own voices within that alongside healthy and appropriate vocal technique.

Vocal Health First Aid - I’m delighted to say I am a certified Vocal Health First Aider, having completed and passed the required training and assessment, with continuing membership of Vocal Health Education.

I’m pleased to be able to offer face to face teaching, with relevant covid precautions. Having offered lessons online since March 2020, these will continue to be available for students who we would prefer this. Feel free to email if you’d like to know more.

Singing lessons are available for children and adults at my home in Wiltshire, along with beginner piano and keyboards. A qualified and experienced teacher, I spent a number of years working with vulnerable children and adolescents in education settings, and am experienced in working with students with a variety of learning needs. I’m a strong believer that singing is for everyone, and committed to helping my students to find their own voice, discover the music they enjoy, and develop the confidence to explore and express their individual musical personality.

I have an honours degree in Theology from the University of Birmingham, a PCGE (secondary education), and studied music theory and composition with the Open University and the Open College of the Arts at degree level. I takes her own vocal health and development seriously and has regular lessons myself with tenor Brian Parsons. Classically trained I have also participated in a variety of vocal training and workshops/masterclasses across genre, including courses at LCCM with contemporary singers Randolph Matthews and Julie Degas.

An active member of the Association of Teachers of Singing, I undertook their Pathways training and mentoring for singing teachers when I began teaching, and regularly participate in professional development opportunities, for example with the BVA and AOTOS. I am also a Music For the Mind coach, running sessions for Alzheimer's Support. Examples of recent courses/training include Vocal Anatomy, working with Adolescent Voices, and Singing For Lung Health training (planning for group sessions for this is underway, so contact me if you would be interested in joining).

I have enhanced certification from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB), certificate viewable on request, and please ask, I won't be offended!
